The Ijaw National Alliance of the Americas (INAA) cordially invites you to the 2018 Summit and 17th “Service & Devotion Award ceremony scheduled for August 24-25, 2018, at the Double Tree Newark Airport Hotel located at 128 Frontage Road, Newark, New Jersey, 07114, USA.

Profile

The Ijaw National Alliance of the Americas (INAA) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization founded in 1995, and formally inaugurated in September, 1998.
 
Through the efforts of a collection of Greater Ijaw ethnic peoples resident in the northeast of the United States, INAA was founded with the primary aim of encouraging Ijaw welfare. Our mission is to promote unity and encourage the economic and socio-cultural advancement of the Ijaw.

Achievements

  • Service and Devotion“ award to encourage patriotism and bestowed on individuals and groups annually since 1998.
  • Organized and sponsored programs that immortalize Late Isaac Adaka Boro. Programs included press releases, symposia, workshops organized in Nigeria since 1998.
  • Organized and sponsored forums to discuss Ijaw Unity and welfare in USA and Nigeria.
  • Organized various relief efforts to help victims during the Odi and Gbaramatu invasions, and other crises in the Ijaw communities.
  • Reaching out to other Ijaw ethnic organizations for purposes of cooperation, coordination, and collaboration.
  • Programs to provide books and other materials to schools in Ijawland.

 

Members’ social obligations include:

  • An annual picnic where members, their families and friends converge in a relaxed atmosphere to have fun and strengthen their bonds.
  • Formal visitation and donation in cash and/or kind for childbirth.
  • Formal visitation and donation in cash/or kind for death in the family.
  • Formal visitation and donation in cash and/or kind for wedding.

 

Clarion call to action

  • Advocacy for Ijaw welfare at various publics in the United States and elsewhere.
  • Scholarship schemes to encourage students in secondary schools and universities at home and the USA.
  • Empowerment programs for the masses to be self-sufficient and also exercise their franchise rightfully.
  • Providing more assistance in the form of books and materials to schools at home.
  • Programs to advance Ijaw culture abroad.

Membership is open to all Ijaw sons and daughters by birth or marriage, residing in the United States of America.
