2018 INAA Summit - Announcement#1

The 2018 Ijaw National Alliance in the Americas (INAA) Summit and 17th Annual "Service & Devotion" award ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the DoubleTree Newark Airport Hotel, Newark, New Jersey, United States.

More details of the event will follow soon. This announcement is to give everyone a heads-up, especially for people in Nigeria, Europe, the Americas and elsewhere who plan to attend this historic event to start making their travel arrangements.

The significance of this summit is for us to come together and discuss the state of the Ijaw Nation, and illuminate the path forward. Similar to events in the previous years, this summit will give an opportunity for all Ijaws to network, discuss, and proffer solutions to the numerous issues facing the Ijaw Nation.

Prior to our brother, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s election to the highest office in Nigeria, Ijaws and Ijaw organizations in Nigeria and the Diaspora were all united in fighting for the betterment of our people. While we had varying opinions and approaches in pursuit of this goal, our resolve was strong and united. However, since President Jonathan graciously stepped down after the recent elections and set a glowing example to the rest of Africa, it appears that most Ijaw organizations have fallen into despair. The level of in-fighting has increased, and several organizations are either non-existent or lost a high percentage of their membership.

This summit will provide the platform for us to discuss, strategize, and identify effective ways to revitalize our organizations and institutions to continue on the road to elevating the lives of our people in this continuously evolving world. Your participation in this year’s summit is highly anticipated as your contributions to the discussions will be crucial in putting the Ijaw Nation back on track towards greatness.
 
Remember, as we have always stated in the past, the challenge is critical, the calling is noble, the course is collective, and the results are rewarding.
